Following the broadcast of the 11th and final episode of Lerche's Given television anime on Thursday, a theatrical adaptation of Natsuki Kizu's BL manga was announced. The film will premiere in 2020.
The film will be produced under Fuji TV's Blue Lynx label, which focuses on the boys' love genre and primarily works on theatrical animation. This will be the label's second project, with Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai: The Clouds Gather being the first.
Kizu has serialized Given in Shinshokan's Cheri+ magazine since April 2013. Shinshokan published the fifth compiled volume on April 1. VIZ Media licensed the manga under its SuBLime imprint this August and will publish the first volume in February 2020.
The TV anime, directed by Hikaru Yamaguchi (Escha Chron), began airing on July 12 on noitaminA, becoming the first boys' love anime to ever air during the programming block. Crunchyroll streamed the series while it aired in Japan.
