Final 'Fruits Basket' Anime Season Airs in 2021



The 25th and final episode of the new Fruits Basket anime's second season ended with an announcement on Tuesday that its final season will debut in 2021. The season, titled Fruits Basket: The Final will air on TV Tokyo, TV Aichi, and TV Osaka, among other channels.

Fruits Basket adapts Natsuki Takaya's supernatural shoujo manga, which ran in Hana to Yume magazine from 1998 to 2006. Takaya serialized the Fruits Basket: Another sequel manga between September 2015 and December 2018.

The first season of new television anime aired in 25 episodes last Spring. The second season began airing on April 7. Crunchyroll and Funimation simulcast both seasons with subtitles and in English dub, respectively. Funimation also licensed the anime's home video rights and released the first season in two volumes on November 19 last year and February 11.

Yoshihide Ibata (FLCL Progressive) is directing the new anime at TMS Entertainment, with Taku Kishimoto (Boku dake ga Inai Machi) handling the series composition. Yuu Shindou (Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru.) is designing the characters. The new anime will adapt the manga series in its entirety.
