The official website of the Urasekai Picnic (Otherside Picnic) television anime revealed a pair of additional cast and the first key visual (pictured). The anime series adapting Iori Miyazawa's sci-fi mystery novel will air in January 2021.
Voice actresses Rina Hidaka (Black Bullet, Kawaikereba Hentai demo Suki ni Natte Kuremasu ka?) and Miyu Tomita (Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai, Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai?: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen) are joining the cast as Kozakura and Akari Seto, respectively.
Yumiri Hanamori (Yuru Camp△, Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho) and Ai Kayano (Tsuujou Kougeki ga Zentai Kougeki de Ni-kai Kougeki no Okaasan wa Suki Desu ka?, 3-gatsu no Lion) are starring as the protagonists Sorao Kamikoshi and Toriko Nishina.
Takuya Satou (Fragtime, Asagao to Kase-san) is directing and handling the series composition at LIDENFILMS and Felix Film. Ayumi Nishihata (Kuromukuro, Oshi ga Budoukan Ittekuretara Shinu) is credited as the character designer and chief animation director. Takeshi Watanabe (Saki, Shoujo-tachi wa Kouya wo Mezasu) is composing the music.
Miyazawa launched the novel under Hayakawa Shobo's Hayakawa Bunko JA imprint in February 2017, featuring illustrations by shirakaba. The fourth volume shipped on December 19 last year, with the fifth volume scheduled for a December 17 release.
Shounen Gangan began serializing a manga adaptation by Eita Mizuno in February 2018. Square Enix published the fourth volume on March 12.
