
Voice actor Yuu Shimaka died on July 28 due to a heart attack. He was 70 years old. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday and Thursday.
Shimaka was born in May 1949 in Nagano. Affiliated with the Production A-Gumi talent agency, some of his voice roles include Koshinuma and Reijirou Asou from City Hunter, Roujyu from Samurai Champloo, Mikhail Kaminsky from Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, and Ryouga Senba from Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch. He also voiced two supporting characters—Tokumori Saizu and Satoru Imatake—from the currently airing Detective Conan.
Shimaka was also notable for being the Japanese dub voice behind Disney's Goofy and reprised his role in Kingdom Hearts III that was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January.
In addition to voice acting, Shimaka ran a private school called "Goof Troop." He was also a graduate of the Toho Gakuen vocational school.
